It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Everyone comes in around 845-10a, and there are six people who work in the office. Some of us make rounds through downtown, visiting factories before coming into the office. There might be a model casting happening, or a group of two or three people working in the creative design board area reviewing the next season’s designs and color palette. Someone on a call. At some point a small group walks to grab some coffees. It’s all very open, interactive, and chill, but everyone’s focused, and has a lot of hats they are wearing, so it’s always busy.
Any restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
Recently, we had a lovely meal at the Girl & the Goat in the Arts District with friends. Planning to go to a friend’s house for a dinner party on Friday, I’ll probably pick up a bottle of wine from Psychic Wines. We often walk to breakfast on the weekends, likely to Honey Hi in Echo Park or Larchmont Bungalow. On Saturday for a date night, we’ll get oysters in Echo Park at The Lonely Oyster.
How about a little leisure or culture?
This was our big family month. We spent time on the East Coast, first in St. Michaels, where my husband’s dad has a home on the Chesapeake Bay. My daughter did a sailing camp there, and the rest of us ate crabs, sat on the dock with wine, and just slowed down. After that, we went to Rehoboth Beach for two weeks filled with ice cream, Funland, and reading on the beach while the kids played. Nothing fancy, but perfect for us!
Now it’s back to full speed. I’ll be in New York next week, then Paris and Florence for work, and squeezing in a weekend in Venice to meet a best friend. It’s everything all at once.
Any weekend getaways?
We recently spent a weekend in San Juan Capistrano, which was lovely. I was so surprised I had never been. We stayed at the Inn at the Mission. We had dinner one night at Wind and Sea, on the edge of the dock in Dana Point. It was lovely to eat so close to the ocean and watch the boats come in. I enjoyed my margarita and the swordfish. We walked around the village near the train tracks and had ice cream, and we spent a morning at the Mission walking through the gardens. I really enjoyed the weekend.
What was your last great vacation?
We went to Punta Mita last year, and it was lovely. We visited Maui in the spring for a family vacation. I visit Italy frequently for my work, as we manufacture our shoes there. I was in Paris and Florence earlier in the year. My favorite restaurant in Florence is Osteria delle Tre Panche.
What store or service do you always recommend?
For shopping…
I love shopping at the NIckey Kehoe Market
I love shopping antiques via Live Auctioneers and 1st Dibs (I highly suggest Live Auctioneers if you love the hunt)
I love the Rose Bowl for fun vintage. In the winter! It’s too hot in the summer
Mr. Freedom for interesting casual vintage finds
Shoe repair: Roberts in Atwater is where I take shoes needing repair. For denim alterations, Denim Doctors
Where are you donating your time or money?
I donated money to the Red Cross and Best Friends Animal Society during the LA fires. We also were making dinner service donations to a local firehouse.
