ON THE MOVE: Earlier this month, FOUND LA favorites Yess and Cafe 2001 announced that they’d be moving out of their shared Arts District home, then a week later posted that their final day of service at that location was last Sunday. The Instagram post went on to say they expect to reopen at a new location in February. However, a trusted FOUND source tells us that only Yess has secured a new location, while Cafe 2001 has not. The all-day cafe is planning to do pop-ups while searching for the right space.
WORLD SERIES: Fairfax’s Caribbean fine dining darling Lucia recently welcomed a new executive chef, Cleophus “Ophus” Hethington, a Miami native with a long list of impressive global cooking stints. To welcome him, the restaurant plans to offer a special menu series honoring Afro-diasporic cuisine throughout Black History Month. Expect origins, Afro-Latina, Caribbean, and Black American cooking and dishes like a charcoal-roasted lamb with fermented sorghum, fufu de plátano with pickled shrimp. It kicks off on 02/04, and should be a hot reservation. –James Royce

The Skinny: First opened in 2019, Azay is a beloved Franco-Japanese joint serving up homey, refined classics and one of LA’s only proper Japanese breakfasts. Forced to close and renovate last year after a fire, it reopened last month.
