BARS • First Round
The Skinny: Once reserved solely for guests, the rooftop of upscale boutique hotel L’Ermitage Beverly Hills is now open to locals.
The Vibe: Endless summer. Navy and white tufted umbrellas shade daytime power lunches on the patio overlooking a residential stretch of Burton Way. The poolside bar with its trellises of pink bougainvilleas beckons for “just a drink” (the pool itself is only usable by hotel guests). Plush outdoor couches call out for happy hour lounging. Luxury home furnishing brand Arhaus outfitted the restaurant, Poza, as well as the adjacent lounging area, aptly named The Arhaus Terrace.
The Food: Poza isn’t trying to do it all, but the minimalist menu is nicely executed, like a pristine poke and a delightful caprese sandwich with pesto on crunchy focaccia. Wagyu franks are wrapped in puff pastry with Dijonaise.
The Drink: Spritzes, champagne, wine by the glass, and a handful of fruit-forward cocktails, including the audaciously priced (at $75 per) 1975, a pina colada variation named after the hotel’s founding year.
The Verdict: A tucked-away gem best experienced during sunset. –Dyana Lederman
